Abstract
How to reconcile interest with utility has long been a problem not only of research but also of journalism. The news story, for instance, about a notorious hoodlum who survived nine bullet wounds after assassins made their fourth attempt on his life may be extremely interesting to most newspaper readers. But how useful is it? On the other hand, news about the fluctuations in the buying power of the peso are of considerable usefulness to readers. But how interesting are they? Even more important: will they sell the newspaper?
