Abstract

The uses of the Transaction Processing System (TPS) in different corporate entrepreneurship is to support their daily business transaction. TPS also supports the monitoring, collection, storage, processing and dissemination of the companies' basic business transactions. Furthermore, majority of corporate entrepreneurship in Metro Manila collect data continuously, frequently on a daily basis, or in real time through the use of TPS. And most of their data and information are stored in their corporate databases and always available for processing The general objective of the study is to enumerate and rank the perceived advantages and disadvantages of using the Transaction Processing System (TPS) among the corporate entrepreneurship companies in Metro Manila, Philippines. The research design used was descriptive. The data gathered (survey and interview results) from the respondent companies will be used for analysis. The data gathered (survey and interview results) from the respondent companies was used to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using TPS which were perceived by 86 corporate entrepreneurship in Metro Manila namely in the following sectors: Service, Manufacturing and Merchandising Corporations. Based on the surveyed and interviewed, the proponent found out that there's more perceived advantages compared to disadvantages of using TPS by the top corporate entrepreneurship in Metro Manila. Some of the perceived advantages in using TPS were also perceived as their disadvantages. For the perceived advantages of using TPS, first in rank, 36 out of 86 companies (or 42%) mentioned that TPS is easy to use, that's why everyone in the company knows how to use it. Next in rank, 29 out of 86 respondents (or 34 %) mentioned that they have fast operation and processing since they started using TPS. Third highest, 26 out of 86 companies (or 30%) mentioned that TPS makes them more effective and efficient. On the other hand, for the perceived disadvantages of using TPS, first in rank, 18 out of 86 companies ( or 21 %) mentioned that when their server is down, they can't process their business transaction on-line or real time, and this resulted to batch processing or manual input. Second highest, 20% (17 out of 86 respondents) mentioned that they have a problem in terms of equipment and device, sometimes, they can't use the TPS and it causes delay in business transaction whenever their computer system is not properly functioning, crashed or break-down. Third in rank, 14 out of 86 companies ( or 16 % ) mentioned that there's a very high and expensive maintenance cost in using the TPS.
