Abstract
This paper proposes to empower green communities as sites for linguistic, economic and ecological development. Three interdisciplinary and intersecting concepts are used to foreground the proposed Green Communities: sociological imagination, social policy and discourse as action. Green communities are lo he established using the public-private partnerships of real estate companies, national and local government, cooperatives, and financial institutions. This partnership shall put premium on tire ecological balance in green communities while offering at the same time housing projects/or the rich, the middle class and the poor. The agricultural products of green communities can be a source of income using an agribusiness framework that works with the help of local cooperatives. While ii offers to address providing livelihood for the people, the possibility of communication and the necessity of a common language will emerge. Similar to what happened in Bahasa Indonesia, the Filipino language will further develop if it underscores to address the economic development and well-being of the people.
