Abstract
When a disaster strikes a certain place in whatever form it may be, the first or one of the first to suffer its effects is the tourism and hospitality industry. The authors interviewed hotel managers to draw a definition of crisis given the information culled out of the interviews. The study also provided a glimpse at the level of preparedness by the respondents of our structured interview that was conducted among managers in selected hotels in the Makati CBD and the Bay Area. The research used the best practice model of crisis management of Ian Mitroff. Fifteen hoteliers from these areas were interviewed individually using a uniform set of questions.
