Abstract
This paper presents the results of the study conducted at Water Ware International Incorporated, Philippines in connection with the Hydraulic Turbo Charger and Rotating Duct Pressure Exchanger for Energy Recovery in SWRO System. Results of 100 - 1000 m3 / day capacities in terms of power requirement were the basis of assessment for the SWRO system. Part of the study is to evaluate the efficiency in reducing operational power and equipment costs when using the hydraulic turbo charger and rotating duct pressure exchanger in SWRO systems. Manufacturer's design data of the Hydraulic Turbo Charger and the Rotating Duct Pressure Exchanger were also gathered in order for a comparison to take place. The comparison outlines the savings gained and energy recovered upon the application of the Rotating Duct Pressure Exchanger for SWRO system. The rate transfer efficiency of the Rotating Duct Pressure Exchanger is 94% which under the accepted range efficiency between 91 - 96%.
