Abstract
The study is a sketch of what ESL and EFL teachers of speaking/listening and oral communication face as they try to cope with challenges of teaching second language learners. Data from interviews revealed that there are similarities and differences in terms of teaching strategies, as well as teacher and student-related factors which affect success in teaching. The study also reveals how Filipino EFL teachers cope with the demands of teaching mostly Koreans in the Philippine setting. Since the study is just exploratory, it is recommended that future studies on EFL learning be made to further substantiate what is happening in the field.
