This study explored the consequences of users' privacy concerns in the context of crowdfunding in the Philippines. Drawing from social contract theory and virtue theory, the proposed research model specifically links factors including prior negative experience, information privacy, perceived risk and trust towards degree of regulatory control. Data from a survey of 54 respondents show that users with prior negative experience with information disclosure acquires eminent privacy concerns and perceive stronger trust and risk leading them to subscribe to regulatory controls in crowdfunding platform use. An indirect relationship between perceived negative experience and perceived risk through information privacy also emerged in the results. The study discusses ethical issues surrounding different crowdfunding platform types and some future directions for research.
