Abstract
Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation Evangelii gaudium (2013) tackles discipleship within the framework of mission and evangelization. A key concept subsumed under discipleship is servant leadership and from which individual Christians and religious structures are challenged to conversion. Evangelii gaudium emphasizes the need for Christians to focus on the heart of the Gospel in order to find trustful, dynamic, and transformative mission for the “changing landscapes” of today’s global and local phenomena. This research analyzes the concept of servant leadership in Evangelii gaudium using content analysis method espoused by Krippendorff. It summarizes conceptual model configurations in Evangelii gaudium’s servant leadership model, proferring pedagogical values for catechists and religious educators.
