Abstract

This study aims to investigate the current resource sharing practices of the NOCEI Library Committee. A survey research method was used for the study. Online survey questionnaire was developed by the researcher and administered to the 19 member libraries through email. Of these, 17 member libraries responded/ simple percentage was used in the analysis of data. They were based on the practices, the level of satisfaction, as well as the actions in dealing problems and ways to improve collaborative resource sharing, and the respondents’ view and understanding of resource sharing. Results of the study revealed that resource sharing is desirable among NOCEI member libraries; they share resources among themselves; most member libraries shared resources often while 3 (17.64%) shared resource rarely; and 1 (5.88%) does not share resources at all. Admittance with 17 (100%) response is considered the best way to attend to the information needs of the researcher while e-document delivery got 0 response because this was still a plan as added form of resource sharing among member libraries. Factors hindering the performance of resource sharing were identified and several ways/solutions were proposed to overcome the hindrances in resource sharing. Personal views of the respondents were identified to understand their attitude towards resource sharing.
