Abstract

Discussions in the media and in business circles about the current global economic crisis almost always focus on immediate triggers, such as the collapsing real estate bubble or excessive sovereign debt. But, larger socio-economic forces that are rarely discussed or even understood by policy makers and business leaders are the ultimate cause of the problems the world is now experiencing. This talk will briefly explore the 'what' and the 'why' of some of the fundamental social and economic transformations that are occurring in the world today and what these structural changes might mean for the future.
