Abstract

In this modern world, the primary challenge faced by all theology teachers in the South East Asian Nations in teaching the Love Commandments of Jesus Christ is how to bridge the gap between faith as taught in the classroom and their students' daily faith life. This challege grows progressively more intense as students advance from Grade School to college. In Catechesi Tradendae (35), Pope John Paul II (1986) raised the questions relative to this reality: In our pastoral care we ask ourselves: How are we to enable them to know the meaning, the importance, the fundamental, the law of love, the promises and the hopes of this kingdom?

In responding to this challenge there are a number of different factors that must be faced. Hence, this study treats of some main elements / factors that supply the foundation for a deeper understanding faith focusing on the Love Commandment of Jesus Christ today. This paper will hopefully lead the readers to the practice of authentic Christian love in this modern era.
