Abstract
The popular culture on science dictates that science deals with invention. Popular written literatures and motion pictures depict science as capable of inventing something whether good or bad. This culture popularized by the entertainment industry about science is etched in the consciousness of students. The preconceived notion developed by students in science is that when they study science, they will be able to invent something. This enrichment lecture attempts to tackle the promotion of improved problem solving skills among students towards inventiveness. It is with this perspective that the integration of the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) into the existing pre-service science education courses at the Philippine Normal University is envisioned.
