Abstract
This paper present the development of a river flow simulator prototype for testing a hydrokinetic turbine specifically the flip wing turbine type design. A flip wing turbine was tested and used with various blade parameters in the prototype bank. The set-up is located at the De La Salle University under the Mechanical Engineering Department and can be sued for future educational and research purposes. Power can be harness from ocean waves, current, tides and river. This research aims to help future hydrokinetic turbine designer to test the performance of their design particularly for small river application and canals. Small scale model turbines need to be tested in a controlled environment in order to test and analyse their design performances and to further improve it. Observation and recommendation for future work are presented at the end of this paper.
