Abstract
Solid-state phase transition onset in 1,4-naphthol, an endocrine-disrupting estrogen-like chemical, is detected using terahertz transmission spectroscopy. Observation of two absorption peaks coupled with the sudden upsurge of terahertz-radiation power indicates the onset of solid-state phase transition. Differential scanning microscopy and temperature-dependent X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the occurrence of such phenomenon. © 2004 IEEE.
