Abstract
This study explored the perceptions, practices and training needs of counseling professionals in handling suicide potential your ages 15 to 24 years. Specifically, 47 counseling professionals were asked through a self-made survey questionnaire about their perceptions and distinct observations of the suicide potential youth, their interventions and related training needs. The participant’s initial responses were then tallied and content analyzed using three categories in understanding the development of suicide –related conditions. These categories (3 P's) are: predisposing risk factors, perpetuating psychological functioning and precipitating causes, results were discussed in the context of the Philippine culture and in view of an individual’s mental processing and behavioral manifestations, which have implications to the counseling profession
