Abstract

The co-operative studies literature reflects remarkably little effort to develop a framework for understanding member participation in co-operatives. This paper synthesize extant knowledge on the subject and provide a foundation fro future research by clarifying its composition, developing research propositions and constructing an integrating framework that includes its antecedents and outcome. This paper draws on the occasional writings about the subject from cross-country literature and as well as in related disciplines. Managerial implications of this research are also discussed.
