Abstract
The central theme of this research rests on how images of the Philippines have been established and recreated. The important point is not to focus on how the images or identity of Filipino culture have been formulated from the outside but to examine the methods the Philippines, exercising its own journalism, has employed in shaping it. The word images of Philippines utilized to attract foreign tourists embodied the desires of the Western gaze. The themes and pictures supporting the Orientalist ecofeminine images and tradition were direct responses to what the West desired from the Orient.
