Abstract
This paper reviews the current status of thermodynamics-related studies in the Philippines. Researches from various publications consisting of refereed journals and scientific proceedings for the past five (5) years were classified and analyzed based on the number of papers published or presented per year; subject area of the study; and the journal publishers and scientific conventions where published and presented, respectively. Three major areas of thermodynamic research were identified including thermodynamic properties characterization such as density, viscosity, refractive index, solubility and molar heat capacity; renewable energy and sustainability; and applied engineering thermodynamics covering heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) design and modeling and performance analyses. With the limited number of researches delving in thermodynamics in the past years, it is recommended that a platform for the collaboration among various research and development stakeholders be established to elevate its status in the country.
