Abstract
This study explored the concepts and practices of student-centered assessment among Filipino senior high school teachers. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews with seven senior high school teachers from both public and private schools in Metro Manila. The findings reveal that teachers conceptualize student-centered assessment as a continuous monitoring and feedback mechanism, as well as a field-specific application of knowledge. In practice, teachers integrate formative and summative assessments and utilize performance tasks to assess student learning. However, challenges in implementing student-centered assessment include limited conceptual understanding of the approach, a preference for traditional assessment methods, and misconceptions about certain assessment techniques.
