Abstract
The r-Bell numbers Cn,r are defined by the sum Gn,r = Σ S(n,m;0,1,r) where S(n,m;0,1,r) denotes the r-Stirling numbers of the second kind. The numbers Gn,r represent certain generalization of the well-known Bell numbers. In a joint paper, Moser and Wyman [3] were able to obtain an asymptotic formula for the Bell numbers. In this paper the author extends their method to obtain an asymptotic formula for the r-Bell numbers.
