Abstract
This paper is concerned with the use of nonconventional hydro equipment which are locally and readily available for small electricity applications. Here, the operation of a small centrifugal pump used as a turbine, coupled with a conventional type car alternator, was investigated.
The experimental results and study showed the technical and economic feasibility of using centrifugal pumps as turbines, given the adequate site of the system to be put up and the appropriate amount of electrical energy needed.
