Abstract
Smart farming technologies are rapidly being developed due to their effectiveness and efficiency in monitoring the health of livestock. Such examples are intelligent wearables and biosensor devices that are health monitors or disease detectors. These state-of-the-art devices are the possible future of cattle farm management as development of many minimally invasive and compact devices show to have minimal impact on the cattle. These devices have many uses such as real-time monitoring or detection making rapid responses in farms possible. However, a classification scheme or taxonomy of these technologies does not exist at this time. Thus, this paper aims to develop a classification scheme of state-of-the-art intelligent wearable devices and biosensors used in agricultural cattle health monitoring. A total of 54 studies were collected and sorted into a taxonomy classified into sensor type, its energy source, the measured health parameter as well as their body attachment area.
