Abstract
The Career Exploration Activity presented is designed to enhance career readiness among De La Salle University undergraduate students through interviews with professionals in their prospective career fields. The aim of this activity is to help students explore and understand their chosen career interest from a professional perspective. By engaging in conversations with seasoned professionals, students are expected to gain a realistic understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities, skills required, educational backgrounds, and potential career trajectories within their desired field. Grounded in the concept of reflective learning, the Career Exploration Activity addresses career development skills for career readiness through an in-depth and personal engagement with professionals and reflecting on the shared information from their interviewees to lay down their own career action plans, which thus highlights the importance of self-concept, openness, and creative and critical thinking in preparing the students for successful careers. This optional activity is an alternative to the mandatory attendance at company events or career information sessions that are requirements for the students’ SAS3000 course, offering a flexible and impactful way for students to enhance their career readiness. The activity highlights the benefits of reflective learning in career education, suggesting that such activities can significantly contribute to students' career development and preparedness for the professional world.
