Abstract

Aerospace industry is a value-added and technology integrated industry. Aircraft are complex products comprised of many subsystems that must meet demand of customer and requirements of operational lifecycle. Aircraft parts should have higher precission and lightweight to satisfy the requirements of safety, payload, and controllability. Systems Engineering is widely used in the aerospace industry to integrate the complex systems and ensure worked flawl essly during service period. The System Engineering Management processes cover needs, conceptual design, preliminary y design, detail design and development, production and construction, utilization and support, phase-out and disposal. Cleaner production is an approach to protect human and environment and to support the goal of sustainable development. The advantages of cleaner production are waste reduction, cost savings, improved compliance, process efficiency...etc. Many researches related to aerospace industry and cleaner production focus on pollutant emission and noise. This study use Value Engineering to analysis the function of detail part/component, to find the suitable material which can satisfy the requirement of function, strength and cleaner production. The goal of this study is to propose a new methodology to embed the co ncept of cleaner production into System Engineering Management of transportation carrier, but also protects human and environment of the world.
