Abstract
A numerical model is used to simulate the dynamics of triboelectric charging on giant magnetore- sistance (GMR) heads during a lapping process. The resulting potential maps obtained from the solutions of the Laplace equation shows the pathways of triboelectric electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage on GMR heads
