Abstract
This paper evaluates the annual reports of listed Philippine mining companies focusing on the quality and quality of environmental disclosures. The environmental disclosures are classified into non-financial and financial. Out of 12 mining companies evaluated, three companies obtained a higher share in the non-financial disclosures namely: PX (82%), NIKL (64%), and SCC (64%). The former and the later are ISO 14001 certified. On the other hand, in the financial environment disclosures part, there are two companies APX and NIKL that excelled, the former got 83% while the later got a perfect score. Overall NIKL disclosed more environmental information as compared to the 11 mining companies. The environmental information disclosed by the 12 mining companies are mostly incomplete and disclosed in every parts of the annual reports. To remedy the deficiency, environmental disclosure themes must be formed to provide foundation for improving environmental reporting.
