Abstract
The mast data obtained from wind power potential site in Subec Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte were analyzed to determine the estimated annual net energy production. Statistical estimation methods were used to calculate the probability density function and cumulative distribution function of wind regime by properly calculating the Weibull parameters.
Commercial software for wind resource assessment such as ASsP was also adopted to perform numerical calculation that generates an observed wind climate report and to verify the predicted annual net energy production.
The results show that the site is suitable for IEC Class I wind turbine generator and the characteristic turbulence intensity at reference height is under the limit of IEC Subclass B. As the sampling data was taken 16 years ago, most recent data would be needed to properly predict the wind characteristics.
