Abstract
Flabelliferran isopods were collected in Isla Bubuin and areas near Puting Buhangin in Taal Lake, Batangas. The isopod species were verified to belong to Corallana spp. using morphological characterization. Differences in body pattern, length and weight were however noted between the specimens collected from the two sampling sites. Agarose Gel Electrophoresis of extracted DNA also led to the confirmation that the Corallana spp. collected from the two sites are further different in terms of DNA band size. The study provided one of the pioneer literatures of the morphology and DNA sequence of the isopod Corallana spp. and also suggests that the Corallana spp. that infests the local fish population may differ in the species level as well.
