Abstract

Social media has become a popular platform to raise social awareness. Students are encouraged to participate in these initiatives, which calls for educators to develop their skills and competencies to become responsible digital citizens. The relatively seamless interplay between graphics and text has led to the infographic becoming a powerful tool in forwarding advocacies. Therefore, it provides the perfect avenue to bridge the skills taught in English classrooms with the digital sphere. This study presents findings from a purposive communication class where college students were tasked to create infographic materials in line with their chosen advocacies. This paper argues that the process approach and use of peer feedback are instrumental in guiding the students in creating accurate and meaningful infographic materials, thus developing relevant 21st century skills.
