Abstract
In this paper, we describe the implementation and result of a video segmentation program which automatically detects shot boundaries and selects a keyframe for each shot. The twin- comparison algorithm was used for shot boundary detection while keyframes were selected using the average histogram method. Three mpeg videoes which were converted into motion jpeg (MJPEG) files were used for testing. Each file was no more than 23 seconds in length and had a different number of shots and subject matter.
