DLSU Student Council President Rowena Sy was chosen to be among the top 10 Jose Rizal Model Student awardees for 1999. Sponsored by the Knights of Rizal, the search for model students was participated in by colleges and universities nationwide. From a list of 20 finalists, only 10 were chosen every year.
