Description

The De La Salle University – Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Health Technologies (DLSU-IBEHT) is a research program that aims to serve as the national institute for R&D, training, and knowledge and technology transfer in the field of biomedical engineering and health technologies in the Philippines. As one of the projects under DLSU-IBEHT, the Project CAPACITÀ - Capacity Building for Researchers, Inventors, Technology Transfer Personnel in Commercializing Biomedical Devices and Health Technologies offers capacity building activities and training programs with the vision of establishing a commercialization hub for biomedical devices, hospital equipment, and health technologies research in the Philippines together with the other DLSU-IBEHT projects.

CAPACITÀLK is one of the capacity training activities of Project CAPACITÀ. It is a series of webinars that aims to create an avenue for sharing experiences and insights to inspire upcoming and current faculty- and student-researchers and technology transfer professionals to level up their research and development outputs into sustainable and scalable solutions that would create a greater societal impact.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Dr. Luis Sison is a professor at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute of the University of the Philippines Diliman, director of the UP system Technology Transfer and Business Development Office, and the program leader of the DOST-UP Enterprise Center for Technopreneurship and UPscale Innovation Hub. He was vice-chancellor for research and development of UP Diliman from 2006 to 2011 during which he established the Technology Transfer Office. He was awarded the Gawad Pangulo for Progressive Teaching and Learning by UP in 2015, and his course on innovation and technopreneurship got the Silver Award for Teaching Delivery at the 2016 Wharton-QS Stars Reimagine Education Awards. He was a visiting researcher at the University of California Berkeley as a Banatao Fellow. He holds an MS and PhD EE degree from Purdue University and a BS EE degree from UP Diliman. His research interests are biomedical instrumentation and education technology.
