Abstract/Summary
The purpose and aim of this practicum paper includes a number of issues referring to the matters affecting the quality of works in the construction of DMCI Project Developers, Inc. – Calathea Place. In this paper, the Intern has initially tackled the problems encountered in masonry, finishing and the most common non-conformance report issued by the Quality Management Department. The identification of the lapses involving the process of quality control all throughout the practicum is evaluated through the actual monitoring how each phase of construction project is conducted. The Intern compared the quality of work across other project from DMCI-PDI and shown Quality Checklists that should be faithfully followed to avoid issues to the quality of work. Upon assessment of the lapses that incurred during the practicum, the Intern strongly recommends the addition of a new staff or a Construction Quality Coordinator that will serve as a bridge between the Construction Division and the Quality Management Department to eliminate and lessen the issues of quality from workmanship, non-conformance report and End-User complaints. The adaptation of an additional staff will be beneficial to the Construction Division in terms of improving the quality of work upon execution. The additional cost to be incurred in the inclusion of the Construction Quality Coordinator will outweigh the cost from repairs, reworks and End-User complaints. DMCI-PDI has been a proven name in the real estate business, and the inclusion of the Construction Quality Coordinator will only improve the standing of DMCI-PDI in delivering condominium units to the End-Users with substantial quality.
