Abstract/Summary

Hoya cagayanensis C.M. Burton grows in tropical wet biome like the Philippines. The dichloromethane (DCM) extract of Hoya cagayanensis led to the identification and isolation of dihydrocanaric acid, lupeol, and lupenone from the stems; and lupeol and β- sitosterol from the leaves. The structures of lupeol, lupenone and β-sitosterol were identified by comparison of their NMR spectra with the data found in the literature. The structure of dihydrocanaric acid was elucidated using 1D and 2D NMR spectra. To date, based on published literatures this is the first report on the isolation of dihydrocanaric acid from the endemic Hoyas in the Philippines.
