The objectives of the study are, to describe nationalism in music through Ryan Cayabyab’s careers and compositions; discuss how his compositions contribute to Philippine music identity and how he defined it through the combination of indigenous sounds with western aesthetics; and analyze his compositions through Dr. Christi-Anne Castro’s views that public performance is the text of the nation and how musicians are actors who perform their nation.
