Abstract (English)

This study examined the development and implementation of two Organizational Communication (OCM) interventions for CAMP Pag-Ayo, a youth-led arts organization in Angono, Rizal. Guided by McPhee and Zaug’s (2000) Four Flows Model, the project addressed OCM gaps in volunteer engagement, internal coordination, and communication structure through the creation of (1) an onboarding organizational event entitled CAMP 101 and (2) a comprehensive organizational manual. While the Four Flows Model primarily emphasizes internal organizational communication, this study demonstrates how these communicative processes become visible and meaningful to external stakeholders in participatory contexts. In the case of CAMP Pag-Ayo, the organization’s onboarding event served as a site where internal communicative structures were not only enacted among members but also performed in ways that allowed outsiders to experience and interpret them.

The onboarding event aimed to enhance membership negotiation and activity coordination by introducing new volunteers to CAMP Pag-Ayo’s advocacies, operations, and creative culture through participatory art-based activities. Meanwhile, the manual provided a structured reference for volunteer management, internal communication, and event procedures, reinforcing self-structuring and institutional positioning. Findings from post-event evaluations and feedback forms indicated high participant satisfaction, with most respondents expressing that the event deepened their understanding of CAMP Pag-Ayo’s mission and motivated them to volunteer. The manual’s development process further promoted transparency, consistency, and shared ownership among stakeholders, serving as a sustainable communication resource for future operations. Collectively, these interventions strengthened CAMP Pag-Ayo’s internal systems, enhanced its communication capacity, and positioned it as a model for structured yet inclusive community-based arts organizations.
