Abstract/Summary
G-urlhood Magazine is an interactive multimedia website, with girlhood and nostalgia being the driving concepts, revolving around women's experiences as young girls in their pursuit of self-reaffirmation and identity. In the face of external expectations and societal pressures, the goal of this project is to support the professional and personal development of women among the Gen Z demographic through the utilization of nostalgia, media convergence, and social learning. This webzine serves as a platform for individuals to engage in the community and foster connections through shared experiences and self-reflection.
The entire process of producing the website took approximately seven months to complete. The first few months were dedicated to research and concept ideation, while the latter portion, taking place within Term 2, A.Y. 2023-2024, was dedicated to production and execution. The proponents first gathered anonymous story submissions using Google Forms, which then served as topic inspiration for the website articles. The magazine features a series of subtopics that revolve around the themes of girlhood and nostalgia, such as girlhood in social media, the resurgence of 2000s trends, and the commodification of girlhood. Once the articles were completed, several photoshoots were scheduled to create the media content.
All elements displayed on the website were produced by the proponents. Edited using Wix Website Builder. The project is publicly available on desktop at g-urlhoodmagazine.com
