Abstract/Summary

Cagayan de Oro has been a city since 1950. Starting from the year 1970, it began its continuous development growth as well as its population, and most especially, vehicles. Currently, the city is becoming a metro and aside from the causes occurring already to the present congestion, sooner or later, the heaviest of traffic congestion will happen if not mitigated properly as early as possible. The study tackles on the current overview of the traffic network with the use of EMME Software for modelling and as well as providing proposed scheme or infrastructure that will give solution to the current and future heavy traffic congestion. It was determined in the study that along the study area with 3.4 km, the travel time from end to end during the highest peak hour can reach up to 24 minutes, thus, having an average speed of 8-9 kph only. As a result, the researcher came up with a proposed scheme of putting up a flyover from end to end along the study area to resolve the travel time issue and thus, the travel time is lessened down to about 13 minutes concluding that it is a solution to the current situation of the network.
