Abstract (English)

Firm value is a critical aspect of every organization and is often associated with stock prices for publicly listed companies. However, financial metrics alone are not sufficient in gauging company success and performance. With the rise of globalization, sustainable trends, and a knowledge-based economy, the challenge centers on how firms will incorporate environmental management and innovation into their business operations. The study aimed to examine how the practice of green accounting and the utilization of intellectual capital, along with the application of business strategy, influence firm valuation particularly of Philippine publicly-listed firms under the environmentally-sensitive industries from 2012 to 2021. The methodology employed was a panel data regression, particularly fixed effects model, which analyzed the influence of both green accounting and intellectual capital, with business strategy as a moderating variable, on the firms’ overall value across the industries and timeframe within the scope of the study. The researchers hypothesized that green accounting and intellectual capital, whether independently or together, have a significant impact on an environmentally-sensitive company’s firm value. The findings of the study revealed that the combined effect of the implementation of Green Accounting and the utilization of Intellectual Capital has a significant impact on the firm value of the companies under consideration, prior to and after being moderated by Business Strategy. Lastly, this study contributes to the existing literature by focusing on environmentally-sensitive firms in the context of the Philippines, as opposed to a few selected industries.
