Abstract/Summary

This study formulates a five-year development plan for the Dominican College of San Juan, High School Department for the school year 1985-1990. The study used the descriptive method of research with documentary analysis to describe, record, analyze and interpret the present status of Dominican College and its environment. The instruments used to gather data were the socio-economic survey questionnaires, checklist on educational goals, PAASCU Self-Survey forms and interviews. A total of 342 respondents participated in this study. There were 18 high school teachers, 162 parents and 162 students. The data on the socio-economic profile of San Juan was from the latest Regional Development Framework Plan, taken from the Office of the Commissioner for Planning, San Juan, Metro Manila. For the goals and values analysis, the weighted means was used to translate the responses. It was ranked in order to see the relative position of the goal expectations of parents and students and the extent to which Dominican College carried out these goals in its program. The internal resources analysis was accomplished through the PAASCU Self-Survey study of enrolment trends and projection, and financial analysis. Data gathered from the PAASCU Self-Survey were tabulated to obtain the mean ratings for each area of concern. The enrolment projection was based on historical trends. The retention rate pattern were taken and used in the projection. The financial projection was based on the expected enrolment. The projected expenditures were based on past trends for recurrent items taking into consideration the present inflationary rate.

The Mission Statement of Dominican College was found to be attuned to the existing conditions and clientele expectations. Dominican College accomplished its educational pursuit in line with the objectives of the school, Congregation, and of the community as shown by the over-all rating of 3.68. The socio-economic status of the clientele revealed that parents can meet increases in tuition fees. Based on the study, no profit was expected by the school in the next five years.
