Abstract/Summary
This study evaluates the effectiveness of the teachers of Holy Cross High School (HCHS) in Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte as perceived by the administrator and the students. The subject of this study were 13 full time teachers, 376 students from the second, third and fourth years, and the administrator of HCHS where the study was conducted. Instrument used is the Teacher Behavior Inventory (TBI) deviced and validated by Dr. Kendal Tang (1973). It is an instrument used to survey the observations of the students regarding certain behaviors of their teachers in the class. Pearson r Product-Moment Formula was used for determining the correlation between the ratings of the administrator and the students on the effectiveness of the teachers. The findings obtained were: 1. The average rating of the students on the teaching effectiveness of the teachers is 3.43 which is interpreted as good. 2. The average rating of the administrator on the effectiveness of the same teachers is 3.60 which is interpreted as very good. 3. There is a significant relationship between the administrator's and the students' ratings on the effectiveness of the teachers. The obtained r is .78, significant at .05 level. 4. There is no significant relationship between the students' and the administrator's ratings in Aversive Teacher Behaviors and in Personal Teachers Characteristics. 5. The students rated their teachers highest in Knowledge of the Subject Matter, and lowest in Principles and Methods of Teaching. The researcher concluded that the students of Holy Cross High School in SY 1978-1979 are reliable in evaluating their teachers' teaching effectiveness in the classroom, and that the Teacher Behavior Inventory (TBI) of Dr. Kendal Tang is once again proven to be reliable in measuring teachers' effectiveness in the classroom.
