Abstract/Summary

The study aimed at determining how Salesian gentleness as a virtue characterizes the Salesian leaders of basic educational institutions in Luzon. The case study method was adopted to gain understanding of the Salesian leaders’ practice of Salesian gentleness. The research design was a multiple-case study where the data was collected through individual interview, survey interviews, and document analysis in the exercise of Salesian leaders’ gentleness toward themselves, in their relationship with others, and in their leadership. The participants of the study were the top five Salesian leaders, faculty members and staff of the Salesians of Don Bosco’s basic educational institutions in Luzon. The results of the study revealed that Salesian leaders practice of gentleness characterizes balance and moderation, equanimity, patience, holy indifference, calmness, acceptance, compassion, witnessing, relationship or union with God hope, loving kindness, proportionality, respect and reverence, patience, sweetness, profound humility, simplicity, joy, firmness, tough love, sound judgment or prudence, reason, religion, and loving kindness, unity, humility, and being just.
