Abstract/Summary
The study is a situational analysis of St. Catherine's School, Carcar, Cebu, an institution run by the Dominican Sisters of the Congregation of Religious Missionaries of St. Dominica. The situational analysis will serve as the basis in drawing up a five-year development plan for the school for the school years 1980-1985. The study utilized the descriptive survey method of research. The survey consisted of the community study and the school survey. Content analysis and trend studies were made, availing of survey questionnaires and checklists. On the basis of the findings, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. Assuming a 15% annual increase in school fees, St. Catherine's School can be viable and can continue upgrading its educational services. 2. The school's external environment presents positive opportunities and a rich background information useful to the school and in understanding and betterment of its students. 3. From the internal resource analysis using the PAASCU scale and as surveyed, St. Catherine School has earned a better than average assessment of the total educational services it offers. 4. Through long-range planning accompanied by periodic evaluation and revisions in the light of changing needs, St. Catherine's School can forge its way into the future continually growing and developing toward the achievement of its mission. 5. The whole process of involving the school and the community has been a rewarding one, not only in terms of material output but also in terms of such intangibles as a closer relationship, a deepening sense of mutual acceptance resulting from openness and constructive criticism, deeper level of communication, and a shared vision of the school's mission.
