Abstract/Summary
Engagement at work has emerged as a potentially important employee performance and organizational management topic. This investigation probed into the factors that influence employee engagement of a secondary school in the Philippines. Specifically, it explored on the relationship of organizational culture, empowerment and selected demographic variables on the employee engagement of the faculty. Implications of which were identified and interventions on the human resources level were proposed. Utilizing the descriptive research design, a survey questionnaire was administered to 80 employees from the subject company to obtain data on culture, empowerment and engagement. Key people in the administrator and mid-administrator level were also invited to participate in a focused-group discussion to solicit and derive interventions for the organization. Significant positive relationship of tenure, organizational culture and empowerment on the engagement of the faculty were concluded. HR interventions proposed for the subject company were therefore aligned with establishing a more collaborative school environment and empowered workforce to boost the engagement of the faculty.
