Abstract/Summary
This study used the sequential explanatory mixed method to examine the mediating role of self- regulation in the relationship between religiosity and SWB among Filipino college-attending
emerging adults. Filipino college students from different universities participated in the quantitative phase, with 348 Catholics and 178 Muslims. Ten Catholic and eight Muslim college students were interviewed in the qualitative phase. The quantitative results display that the paths between religiosity, subjective well-being, and self-regulation were significant and positive. The indirect effect was also statistically significant in two groups. Based on the qualitative result, having strong religious beliefs, participating in religious practices, and joining faith-based groups regularly promoted self-regulation and SWB among this population. The findings of the study, as well as implications and limitations are discussed.
