Abstract/Summary
The purpose of this research is to document and analyze how our four-person team at Au’s Coffee Beans dealt with the firm’s immediate needs when one of us had to temporarily leave her duties, all while we balance the business’ demands with our respective full-time jobs.
The first cycle covers the team’s initial construction and planning on how to manage the business’ Facebook page, how the actions we took expanded to more than just managing the page, and how we evaluated our efforts with consideration to our initial plan.
The second cycle focuses on how we identified and executed improvements for the different branches of action identified from the first cycle, including how we identified key tasks to be done beyond the scope of this research.
This action research discusses how theories and studies from entrepreneurship manifest in real businesses like Au’s Coffee Beans, as well as the challenges encountered by small enterprises such as ours. This research also illustrates the dynamics and challenges of interaction between collaborators in a firm who have personal relationships with each other.
