Abstract/Summary
With most organizations, managing output, performance, productivity and motivation can be challenging. According to Drucker (2002), it’s one thing for a company to take advantage of people working on tedious operations of the company, it’s quite another to forget, in the process, the people or talents, that needs to be developed, recognized and rewarded. In this action research, through the collective study and observation in the airline operations, it aims to address the weakening enthusiasm of PAL’s employees and design a sustainable campaign that would continuously motivate and inspire them with PAL’s service culture of Buong Pusong Alaga (BPA) as the blueprint for motivational strategies. This action research also sought to obtain senior management’s approval in implementation of the campaign. Their endorsement and approval of the campaign was a manifestation of the organization’s leadership that promotes an inclusive environment and that also enhances employee work motivation. The intervention implemented to address the issue was Acts of BPA, an employee recognition campaign that recognizes simple but standout acts of BPA or good service done my all employees of PAL – regular and outsourced. Literary and concepts and theories were applied in the design and implementation of the campaign to address the issue. This action research has given me the opportunity to learn more about my organization through a researcher’s eyes, which has stimulated my interest in the organization even more. It has also allowed me to appreciate my colleagues and to value my role in the organization, how important it is in promoting esprit de corps and in influencing motivation and commitment in the company.
