Abstract/Summary

This research focuses on establishing a Materials and Equipment Monitoring System for BRD-RMR Corporation. Through Action Research methodologies and collaboration, my collaborators and I were able to pin down through meetings and discussions that one of the most urgent and serious problems the company was faced with was having no control over the movement of materials and equipment of the company. With the increasing cases of lost, stolen, damaged materials or equipment being reported within the company, it is important to allot some time and give some attention to actually resolving it. The objective of this action research was to establish a stable system that will aid everyone in tracing and monitoring where the materials go and who is accountable for them. With this, people will develop a sense of discipline, accountability, and responsibility in their workplace. Together with my collaborators, we have made use of the action research cycles and tools to be able to analyze our situation and implement the planned actions that fit the environment we were in, including the people we work with. The group did a total of two cycles which resulted to the successful creation and implementation of the process flow and system currently being used in the organization. This Action Research also made use of the ADKAR Change Management Model in ensuring that there is a smooth transition and introduction to the change activities given that a system was going to be put into place. The team was successfully able to establish a system that allowed the management to properly record all the transactions in the tool room. More than the operational benefits that the new system has brought, the activity made the members of the team empowered instilling in them that they can be change agents in the company.
