Abstract/Summary
This thesis aimed at an in-depth study of the level of personal maturity among the RNDM formandees in Vietnam in relation to their actualizing the RNDM Charism. The study is also designed to find out whether the RNDM Charism helps the formandees to achieve personal maturity and actualize its mission-vision.
This study was based on Van Kaam’s theory on the four dimensions of human living. The subjects of this study were 11 postulants (POST), 14 novices (NOV), and 38 temporary professed sisters (TP), with an age range of 22 to 37. The quantitative, qualitative design and semi-structure interviews were employed for data collection. The findings indicate that most of formandees attained the level of personal normality, while others, particularly the TP have reached the level of personal maturity in some dimensions and a few POSTs need to mature more. The relationship between personal maturity and actualizing the RNDM Charism was found to be positively significant in most aspects of personal maturity of the subjects. However, the relationship between extraversion and independence were not found to be significant. Personal maturity was found to be influenced by several socio-historical factors; structures of Vietnamese family tradition and social relationship values imbibed by the formandees as well as modern cultural “market economy”.
The Vietnamese RNDM formation program of formandees has drawn the inspiration from the data of this study.
