Abstract/Summary

Sheng Kung School, Tainan, Taiwan is one of the Catholic schools in Taiwan. However, most of its students are non-Christians. The school offers a course called Life Education which in the Philippines is called Religious Education. The faculty members assigned to teach the course are Christians with no religious training whatsoever. Their present curriculum was organized by a protestant friend of the previous principal. Hence, they need to reorganize the lessons for more effective teaching. The present study aims to propose an enhanced topic lesson based on the school’s mission-vision, inculturation and multiple intelligences, models on module-making and the teachers’ teaching experiences. The current topic lessons are compared with model lesson plans from seasoned teachers. A critical analysis is made by the researcher based on existing models of Religious Education Lessons. She then attempts to enhance three existing modules in the Life Education curriculum of Sheng Kung School and presents them herein for evaluation and implementation in Sheng Kung School where she is currently teaching. Recommendations include further examination and revision of the Life Education curriculum to make the course more relevant and appealing to Chinese non-Christian. It also suggests a regular evaluation by the teachers to see its impact on the students. More importantly, this study recommends the updating of the teachers with current trends in teaching.
